About

Hi there!

Thanks for stopping by my niche in the interwebs! I am a medical doctor who is currently working with a team of infectious disease researchers.

I have been a long time reader of blogs but never really worked up the enthusiasm or the courage to write one myself - always been one of the lurkers who preferred reading other people's blogtastic experiences, while vaguely wondering if I should start one myself. I finally took the plunge when a long time friend (who happens to be a prolific blogger as well) ended up pushing me in, feet first, into the pool of medical blogsville.

I am going to write mainly about my work, research in infectious diseases, and preparing for the USMLE as an international medical graduate. I have recently decided to take the plunge into making a seismic career shift because although through public health research I can reach millions of people (potentially), I crave for clinical medicine, where I could touch a few lives. I have some strong opinions about medical education and health policy and mixed in with this mostly personal series of posts, I shall try to write about things that I am passionate about. At the end of the day,as a newbie blogger, I guess I am writing mostly for the sake of catharsis - to give an outlet to all the thoughts that are jostling around inside my head. I have no expectations as to how this will go, and I am pretty sure that I will not really have much of an audience, but that kind of reassures me now!

Feel free to browse around and see if you like anything. Drop me an email. Leave me a comment. Or not...

  1. Thanks for following my blog. Your blog looks really interesting, and it's great to get a perspective on medicine through different people's viewpoints. I hope to get some insight into infectious diseases! :)
